What's the difference between full-time and contract roles?
Full-time means W-2 / permanent employee status with benefits, leaves, equity vesting, and structured career growth. Contract roles are project-based, usually 3-12 months, with higher hourly pay but no benefits. Both are listed on Art of Code; this page filters to full-time only.
Do all full-time roles include equity?
Most early-stage and growth-stage startups include equity (ESOPs); scale-ups and enterprises usually include RSUs at senior levels. Listings here disclose equity ranges where the company is willing to share. If equity matters to you, ask explicitly during the interview process.
Which experience level is most in demand?
2-5 years of experience is the sweet spot — most listings target this range. Senior (5-8 years) listings are fewer but command higher salaries. Junior (0-2 years) listings exist but compete more aggressively. Staff/principal levels (8+) are listed quarterly when scale-ups need them.
Are these roles negotiable on salary?
Almost always, yes. The salary band on each listing is the visible range; the actual offer depends on your interview performance, current package, and competing offers. Strong candidates with multiple offers regularly negotiate above the listed band. Don't assume the listed range is final.
How do these roles compare to FAANG / big tech?
Art of Code listings skew toward Indian product startups, scale-ups, and global remote-first companies hiring in India. Big tech (Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Meta) hire through their own ATS systems and aren't routed through here. The roles here often pay competitively with big tech at senior levels but offer more equity upside, more ownership, and faster career growth.
