Software Development Engineer

About the Role FedEx is looking for a Software Development Engineer to collaborate with development advisors and architects to design, build, and maintain scalable software solutions. The role involves full-stack application development, microservices, code quality and security, technical collaboration, code reviews, and supporting development teams. The engineer will also contribute to solution design, cross-team communication, software demonstrations, and knowledge transfer. Key Responsibilities • Collaborate with Full Stack Developer Advisors to break down epics into capabilities and business features. • Define solution designs and work with domain and solution architects to develop robust application architectures. • Write and implement scalable, resilient, and high-performing code and microservices solutions. • Ensure the quality, performance, and security of developed code and solutions. • Drive code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and enforce development best practices. • Manage competing priorities and provide effective status updates, including issue escalations, to executive leadership. • Own software demonstration content and acceptance activities. • Facilitate communication and problem-solving across multiple development teams and business stakeholders. • Clearly articulate technical needs to onsite and offshore vendor teams. • Act as a backup for the development lead when required. • Mentor and train junior developers and support knowledge and practice transfer across development teams. • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, MIS, or a related discipline. • Relevant experience in both front-end and back-end application design and development. • Associate level: Prior experience is not required. • Standard I level: 2 years of relevant experience. • Standard II level: 3 years of relevant experience. • Senior I level: 4 years of relevant experience. • Senior II level: 5 years of relevant experience. • Fluency in English. • Accuracy and attention to detail. • Strong analytical skills. • Strong problem-solving skills. • Microsoft Office and PC skills. • Numerical skills. • Ability to develop scalable, resilient, and high-performing software and microservices. • Ability to collaborate effectively across development teams, architects, business owners, and vendor teams. • Ability to communicate technical requirements clearly and contribute to code reviews and development best practices.
