Is Devdle free to play?

Yes. Devdle is free and needs no account. Signing in only adds the leaderboard and keeps your streak across devices.

When does the puzzle change?

At midnight IST, which is the same moment for every player wherever they are. The game shows a countdown to the next one.

Does everyone get the same word?

Yes. The word is worked out from the date, so every player sees the same puzzle on the same day.

What does hard mode do?

Hard mode makes you reuse everything the board has revealed: a green letter must stay in its place, and any letter known to be in the word must appear in your next guess.

Do practice games count towards my streak?

No. Practice is unlimited and exists for fun once the daily puzzle is done; only the daily puzzle affects streaks and the leaderboard.

Can I play if I am colour-blind?

Yes. There is a colour-blind mode that swaps the tiles to orange and blue, and the three states already differ in brightness as well as colour.

Is there a hint if I get stuck?

Yes, three of them. After two guesses you can reveal hints one at a time: the area the word belongs to, then a clue about where you would meet it, then what it actually means. They are optional and cost nothing, so take only as many as you need.

How do I see the rules again?

Press the info button in the top bar at any time, or press Escape to pause and choose How to play. The timer stops while you read.
