Akamai's Network Operations Systems Group develops solutions that help deploy and maintain its global network. The team builds tools that enable Network Infrastructure, Operations, and Engineering teams to work more quickly, reliably, and efficiently.

About the role

The Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain high-reliability software systems, including distributed systems with web and console interfaces. The role involves collaboration with international and cross-functional teams and delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Responsibilities

Analyze, design, and implement high-availability systems software.

Develop new functionality for services focused on automation, observability, and identity management.

Support the full product lifecycle, from ideation and implementation through operation.

Improve software testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.

Mentor less-experienced engineers to help ensure high-quality solutions.

Evaluate emerging technologies and trends related to network operations and automation.

Required qualifications and skills

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field. At least 0.6 years of programming experience using Python, Go, and/or shell scripting. At least 0.6 years of development experience on Linux/Unix platfors. Knowledge of internet protocols such as TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, and/or TLS/SSL. Experience with Git/Stash and Perforce version-control systems. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
