About the role

Cisco's Wireless Feature & System Engineering team develops end-to-end wireless capabilities for enterprise Wi-Fi systems. The team works across: Wireless Access Points (APs) Wireless Controllers Cloud-managed networking platforms Device software Control planes Network management systems As a Full-Stack Wireless Software Engineer, you will work on both software development and testing/validation. You will be involved in a feature throughout its lifecycle—from implementation to testing, debugging, and automation. The role is particularly focused on C/C++, Python, networking, Wi-Fi, automation, and system-level debugging. 🔧 Responsibilities 1. Wireless Software Development Develop wireless features across Access Point, controller, and management layers. Implement and integrate software components across the wireless stack. Work with platform and wireless engineering teams. 2. Programming Develop software using C/C++. Use Python and scripting languages for development and automation. Maintain and enhance existing software. 3. Testing & Validation Design and execute test plans. Develop automated tests for wireless features. Validate features across different system components. Perform regression testing. 4. Debugging & Troubleshooting Analyze logs and packet traces. Investigate system behavior. Reproduce reported issues. Identify the root cause of problems. Validate fixes after implementation. 5. Wireless Lab Testing Set up and work with lab environments. Test different wireless scenarios. Validate wireless functionality under different conditions. 6. Collaboration Work closely with: Platform teams Radio teams QA teams Cloud teams Other software engineering teams

Requirements

Required / Minimum Qualifications Programming C/C++ — Strong You should have solid programming skills in C or C++. Python — Strong Python/scripting knowledge is required for development and automation. Networking You need a good understanding of: Computer networking fundamentals Networking concepts Wi-Fi fundamentals 802.11 basics Testing & Automation You should have: Experience or strong interest in software testing Test automation knowledge System validation experience Ability to design/execute test cases Debugging Strong ability to: Analyze logs Understand system behavior Debug software issues Reproduce problems Analyze failures Validate fixes Analytical Skills Strong problem-solving skills Strong analytical thinking Ability to investigate complex technical issues ⭐ Preferred Qualifications These are not mandatory, but can strengthen your profile. Wireless Networking Experience with wireless controllers Exposure to cloud-managed networking systems Networking Tools Experience with Wireshark Packet capture/packet analysis Wireless Security Knowledge of: WPA2 WPA3 🎓 Education & Experience Option 1 — Bachelor's BS + 1–3 years of experience Option 2 — Master's MS + 0–2 years of experience
