Junior AI Engineer

YAL is hiring a Junior AI Engineer to develop practical AI agents and conversational systems that automate business processes. The role involves building text- and voice-based agents, integrating APIs, databases, and knowledge sources, improving prompts and retrieval pipelines, and supporting speech-to-text and text-to-speech features. The engineer will work with senior engineers and customer-facing teams to take features from prototypes through testing, integration, and deployment, while improving reliability, response time, and usage costs.

Required Skills

Python programming and writing maintainable code.

REST APIs and basic backend development.

Git and database fundamentals.

Practical experience building applications with Large Language Models (LLMs) through projects, internships, or professional work.

Basic understanding of

Prompt engineering

Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)

Tool calling

Structured debugging and testing.

Ability to evaluate whether an AI application completes its intended task.

Clear communication, ownership, and willingness to learn from feedback.

Preferred / Additional Skills

Agent frameworks or workflow orchestration tools.

Conversational AI and conversation-flow design.

Speech recognition, speech synthesis, or real-time audio.

Docker and cloud deployment.

Logging and application monitoring.

Integration with external services.

Experience adapting projects for real users.
