Associate Software Engineer

Job Description

NewStreet is hiring recent graduates for a permanent Associate Software Engineer role. Selected candidates will work with a senior engineer, receive code reviews, and rotate across product engineering, dashboards, and client delivery during their first year.

This is not an internship or stipend-based position. Freshers will contribute to real product features, write tests from the beginning, take ownership of modules as they gain experience, and participate in support rotations for the modules they build.

Key Responsibilities

Build under review: Develop real product features with code reviews from senior engineers.

Own a module: Take responsibility for a named component within approximately two to three quarters.

Write tests: Create and maintain tests as part of the development process.

Rotate across teams: Work across product engineering, dashboards, and client delivery during the first year.

Support developed modules: Participate in support rotations and troubleshoot issues in your own modules.

Required Qualifications and Skills

B.E., B.Tech, or MCA.

Recent graduate with 0–1 year of experience.

Programming fundamentals, including data structures and algorithmic complexity.

Working knowledge of Python, including the ability to build a small application end to end.

SQL and relational database fundamentals.

A project you personally built and can explain, including decisions you would change in hindsight.

Practical Git knowledge.

Willingness to accept and learn from thorough code reviews.

Preferred Skills

Internship experience involving production systems.

Open-source contributions.

Exposure to FastAPI, React, or Kotlin.

Self-directed learning in cloud, mobile development, or AI.

AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or Cursor.
