Software Engineer I – AI and ML

Zinnia is hiring a Software Engineer I – AI and ML to build intelligent systems and production-grade AI solutions for its insurance technology platform. The role focuses on developing and deploying machine learning models and Generative AI features, managing end-to-end ML pipelines, and integrating AI capabilities into business applications.

Responsibilities include building Python-based REST APIs, developing classification and clustering models, implementing NLP and semantic search, optimizing SQL and NoSQL databases, and incorporating technologies such as retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), LLM fine-tuning, and vector search. The engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams and help maintain scalable, documented, and monitored production systems.

Required skills Python and data science

• Strong Python programming and deployment skills.
• NumPy and Pandas.
• Scikit-learn and FastAPI.

Machine learning

• Supervised and unsupervised learning.
• Deep learning.
• Classification, clustering, and outlier detection.
• PyTorch, TensorFlow, XGBoost, and DBSCAN.

Generative AI

• At least 2 years of Generative AI experience, as stated in the skills section.
• Large language models (LLMs).
• Prompt engineering.
• RAG pipelines.
• Summarization and fine-tuning.

NLP and search

• Named Entity Recognition (NER).
• Embeddings, semantic search, and ranking models.
• spaCy, BERT, FAISS, and Elasticsearch.

API development

• RESTful APIs.

Databases

• SQL and NoSQL.
• PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and vector databases.

Preferred / additional skills
