About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Payments Network Technology team and work on automation solutions for secure and reliable payment processing platforms. The role focuses on developing scalable automated testing solutions using Java and modern test automation technologies. You will work on functional, API, integration, regression, and UI automation while validating end-to-end payment transaction flows involving authorization, clearing, tokenization, and related payment processing systems. The position provides an opportunity to work with technologies such as Java, Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit/TestNG, Rest Assured, Karate, REST APIs, SQL, Git, and CI/CD pipelines. The engineer will collaborate with software development, product, architecture, and operations teams to identify issues, troubleshoot failures, improve test coverage, and support high-quality software releases. Requirements

### Required Skills - Strong programming skills in Java. - Experience developing automation frameworks and test utilities. - Knowledge of Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit/TestNG, Rest Assured, Karate, or similar automation technologies. - Experience testing REST APIs, microservices, web applications, and database-driven systems. - Good understanding of SQL and test data management. - Knowledge of Git and version control. - Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices. - Understanding of software development and testing methodologies. - Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills. - Good communication and collaboration skills. - Ability to work effectively in Agile and cross-functional engineering teams. ### Preferred Skills - Knowledge of ISO 8583 messaging. - Understanding of payment processing workflows. - Knowledge of authorization, clearing, and tokenization. - Experience with Python or Shell scripting. - Knowledge of payment or financial-services technology. - Familiarity with AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude CLI. ### Education - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. ### Other Requirements - Ability to work collaboratively with globally distributed engineering, product, architecture, and operations teams. - Strong interest in software quality, automation, and continuous improvement.
