Software Development Engineer I (SDE-1)

About the Role AiSensy is looking for a Software Development Engineer I (SDE-1) to join its engineering team and help build scalable, reliable, and high-quality software. As an SDE-1, you will work with experienced engineers, product managers, and designers to develop new features, fix bugs, improve product performance, and contribute to the engineering organization. This role is suited for engineers with strong programming fundamentals who enjoy solving challenging problems and want to develop their software engineering skills. Key Responsibilities • Develop, test, and maintain web applications and backend services. • Build new product features under the guidance of senior engineers. • Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices. • Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and Engineering teams to deliver high-quality software. • Participate in code reviews and continuously improve code quality. • Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and production issues. • Write unit and integration tests to ensure software reliability. • Learn and follow software architecture, coding standards, and development processes. • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives. • Continuously improve technical skills by learning new technologies, tools, and engineering best practices. • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. • 1–2 years of professional software development experience. • Strong knowledge of JavaScript and modern programming concepts. • Hands-on experience with the MERN Stack, including MongoDB, Express.js, React.js, and Node.js. • Good understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web development. • Familiarity with building and consuming REST APIs. • Good understanding of Object-Oriented Programming, Data Structures, and Algorithms. • Basic understanding of database concepts and MongoDB. • Familiarity with Git and version control workflows. • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills. • Good communication and collaboration skills. • Passion for learning and building scalable software. Preferred Qualifications • Strong experience delivering backend-focused projects. • Hands-on experience with MongoDB and the complete MERN stack. • Familiarity with both frontend and backend development. • Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines. • Exposure to Redis, messaging queues, or microservices is a plus. • Experience working with Agile development methodologies.
