Dodo Payments is looking for a Backend Engineer with deep expertise in Rust to build highly reliable and scalable backend systems for its global payments platform.
The role focuses on systems where correctness, reliability, security, and scalability are critical. You will work on payment processing infrastructure involving idempotency, exactly-once semantics, reconciliation, global payment methods, tax rules, settlement timing, and payout orchestration.
Responsibilities:
• Design and develop robust backend services for the payment processing platform using Rust
• Build systems that maintain high performance and availability as transaction volumes scale
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code
• Conduct code reviews and follow strong engineering practices
• Implement security best practices and defenses for payment infrastructure
• Work closely with frontend engineers and product managers to define feature specifications and deliver high-quality products
• Design scalable and performance-oriented services
• Stay current with fintech and payment technology trends
• Evaluate and propose new tools and technologies to improve backend systems
• Take ownership of meaningful product and engineering surface area in a high-trust environment
Requirements
• 2+ years of backend development experience
• At least 1 year of experience using Rust or Go
• Strong expertise in designing and implementing scalable, performance-oriented backend services
• Strong Rust development skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Track record of delivering complex engineering projects
• Understanding of cryptographic techniques and security protocols is a plus
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience working in startups or dynamic high-growth environments is preferred
• Strong ownership and pride in building reliable software
• Personal projects, open-source contributions, or independently shipped software are valued
