SDE Intern

About the Role As an SDE Intern at Hiver, you will gain hands-on experience building and supporting a production software product. You will work closely with experienced engineers to design, build, test, and ship features that impact real customers. Hiver handles a substantial amount of email traffic for its users, giving interns exposure to real-world engineering challenges and the opportunity to learn how high-quality software is built and operated in production. Key Responsibilities • Implement well-defined product features and bug fixes in backend and platform services with guidance from a mentor. • Write clean, readable, and maintainable code following Hiver's coding conventions. • Add basic unit and integration tests for new code paths and learn about test coverage and reliability. • Participate in pairing sessions, code reviews, and technical design discussions. • Learn the architecture and systems behind Hiver's production platform. • Ask questions, incorporate feedback, and continuously improve engineering skills. About Hiver Hiver is a modern, AI-driven customer service platform used by companies across healthcare, finance, logistics, education, and technology. The platform helps teams deliver customer support across email, chat, phone, WhatsApp, and other channels.

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. • Basic understanding of backend development principles, including APIs, services, data flows, and error handling. • Familiarity with at least one programming language such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Node.js, Python, Java, or a similar language. • Basic understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and complexity. • Strong willingness to learn quickly, ask questions, and incorporate feedback. • Ability to collaborate with engineers and participate in code reviews. • Clear communication regarding progress, challenges, and blockers. • Understanding of relational databases such as MySQL or PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases is a plus. • Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP is advantageous. • Familiarity with CI/CD or basic monitoring and observability is advantageous.
