JSON to TypeScript – Infer Interfaces, Zod & More

Turn any JSON payload into TypeScript interfaces, Zod schemas, or 8 other languages, inferred live.

Paste any JSON and get TypeScript interfaces, a Zod schema, or code for Go, Python, Rust, C#, Java, Kotlin and Swift — inferred live as you type. Optional fields, nullable values and unions are detected automatically. Runs entirely in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

JSON input

Paste JSON to generate types

About JSON to TypeScript & Zod

Writing types for an API response by hand is slow and easy to get wrong, especially when fields are sometimes missing or null. This tool builds an intermediate type model from your actual JSON, merging every item in an array to work out which fields are optional, which are nullable, and which mix types. From that model it can render a TypeScript interface or type, a Zod schema with an inferred type, or code for eight other languages, each with that language's own naming conventions and rename annotations.

Features

Live inference

Paste or type JSON and the type definitions update automatically, debounced so large payloads never stutter.

TypeScript & Zod

Toggle between a TypeScript interface/type and a runtime Zod schema with an inferred type export.

8 more languages

Go, Python (Pydantic or dataclass), Rust, C#, Java, Kotlin and Swift, each with idiomatic naming and rename annotations.

Precise parse errors

Invalid JSON shows the exact line and column, while the last valid output stays visible, dimmed, underneath.

Smart field detection

Keys missing from some array items become optional, mixed types become unions, and null values become nullable.

Copy or download

Copy the generated code or download it with the right file extension for your chosen language.

How to use JSON to TypeScript & Zod

  1. 1

    Add your JSON

Paste JSON, load a sample, or upload a .json file.

  2. 2

    Watch the type model build

Nested objects, optional fields and unions are inferred live.

  3. 3

    Pick TypeScript or Zod

Toggle between a TypeScript interface/type and a Zod schema.

  4. 4

    Try another language

Open More languages for Go, Python, Rust, C#, Java, Kotlin or Swift.

  5. 5

    Copy or download

Grab the generated code, or download it with the right file extension.

Use cases

  • Typing a REST or GraphQL API response before wiring it into a frontend
  • Generating a Zod schema to validate incoming webhook payloads at runtime
  • Sharing a sample JSON payload with a backend team as Go or Rust structs
  • Converting a JSON config file into a typed Pydantic or dataclass model

Privacy

Parsing and type generation run entirely in your browser. Your JSON is never sent to a server, and only your chosen options are remembered locally.

Frequently asked questions

When converting an array, every item is merged into one type. If a key is present in some items but missing in others, that field is marked optional in the output. If the key appears in every item, it stays required.
If a field is null in some samples and has a real value in others, the generated type becomes nullable (T | null in TypeScript, Option<T> in Rust, T? in Kotlin/Swift/C#, and so on). If every sample for that field is null, the type falls back to null (or the closest equivalent for that language).
Copy the output into a .ts file. It exports a schema constant (e.g. RootSchema) built from z.object(), z.array() and z.union(), plus a TypeScript type inferred from it with z.infer<typeof RootSchema>. Nested types are declared before the types that use them.
No. Parsing and type generation both run entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to a server, and the input itself is never saved to your browser's local storage — only your chosen options are.
TypeScript and Zod are available as a quick toggle. The "More languages" menu adds Go, Python (Pydantic and plain dataclasses), Rust (serde), C#, Java, Kotlin and Swift, each generated with that language's naming conventions and rename annotations.
